Responsibilities

About the position

  • Join our experienced medicolegal team serving an eight-county population of over 512,000 residents.
  • When fully staffed, work alongside two board-certified forensic pathologists.
  • The center performs approximately 700 forensic autopsies a year, including approximately 30 homicide cases per year.
  • The successful candidate will be appointed to a non-tenure clinical track faculty position at the assistant professor level in the Department of Pathology at East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine.  Appointment at a higher faculty rank (with additional compensation) may be considered based on work experience and academic credentials.
  • Promote process/quality improvement initiatives within the center.
  • Opportunities for compensated time dedicated to undergraduate and graduate medical education, or research may be available, if interested.

  • Work/Life Balance – currently the Forensic Center does not perform autopsies on the Weekends
  • Complete Support Staff – five ABMDI certified medicolegal death investigators to respond to scenes, four autopsy technicians, and full administrative support staff

Compensation

Salary: $270,000
*Board-certified at the assistant professor level
