Donate to “Sponsor-A-Sip!”—The Anthropology Section Reception Fundraiser

Source: MariaTeresa A. Tersigni-Tarrant, PhD, Chair, Anthropology Section Fundraising Committee

Due to the rising costs of our Annual Section Reception at AAFS, the fundraising committee has developed a "Sponsor-A-Sip" Fundraiser to raise the funds necessary to continue to provide drink tickets and light hors d'oeuvres during our 2026 Section Reception. Due to restrictions with our funding, we are unable to move the reception away from the conference venue; therefore, the committee has approved a direct solicitation to our Anthropology Section membership to raise the necessary funds through this fundraiser.

We are asking Anthropology Section members to donate to the Sponsor–A-Sip Fundraiser by donating $20.00 to the Anthropology Section on the AAFS section donation page: https://www.aafs.org/ways-give?form=Section-Donation.

All donors will be acknowledged through signage at the 2026 Anthropology Section Reception. Any funds raised that are not used during this year's Anthropology Reception will be reserved for future Anthropology Reception budgets.

Donating is simple: Click the link, enter $20 in the donation amount, select "Anthropology" from the section drop-down menu, and include a DEDICATION that reads "RECEPTION" (see image below). Follow the directions on the subsequent screens to complete your one-time donation. If you elect to cover the fee associated with the online donation, your $20 donation amount will be modified to $21.90, and the section will receive $20 to use toward the section reception. If you choose not to cover the fee, the section will receive $18.10 of your $20.00 donation to use toward the reception. Funds received by November 15, 2025, will be eligible to be added to the 2026 reception budget.
